Wisconsin Muzzleloader Hunting Update - December 6, 2009

Posted by Chrud , 06 December 2009 · 1,287 views

The weather was pretty similar to yesterday.  In the teens in the early morning and it warmed to the mid 20's.  No deer again today.  I had another 30 pictures on my Cuddeback from last night though.

This morning was likely the end of my whitetail hunting for 2009.  If the deer begin to move in the daylight, I might try to get a doe during the late...

Wisconsin Muzzleloader Hunting Update - December 5, 2009

The Wisconsin muzzleloader season started on Monday, November 30 and runs until Wednesday, December 9.  The only times I am able to hunt is this weekend, because of work.

The weather is finally better for deer hunting.  Highs today were in the low to mid 20's.  I didn't see any deer today, but did quite a bit of walking and the fresh snow revealed...

With Sunday being the final day of the 2009 Wisconsin Gun Deer Season, I decided that Saturday would be my last day in the woods.  The weather wasn't great, temperatures were in the 40's again, with sunny skies and very little wind.  I was back in my ground blind and didn't see any deer.

This has been a very tough season for all of us.  My...

Things finally turned around today.  Temperatures were in the 30's with clear skies and very little wind.

I didn't see any deer this morning.  I did watch three big gobblers for about 30 minutes.  All were pretty nice, but one had a beard that was dragging on the ground the whole time.

This afternoon I went back to my food plot.  I just leaned up...

Happy Thanksgiving to all of the Hunting Resource members!

Temperatures cooled off a bit with highs in the 30's and it was pretty breezy with northwest winds about 15 MPH and gusting to near 30 MPH.  It was cloudy most of the day with a brief snow shower around 8:00 AM or so.

Deer activity was very slow again.  I didn't see anything, but I...

Wisconsin Gun Hunting Update - November 22, 2009

Weather conditions were quite similar to yesterday, minus the fog. No deer at all today. It has been very slow everywhere. Not many shots in the distance. Between my brother and I, if it wasn't for the three deer I saw Saturday evening on the walk out we wouldn't have seen a single deer yet.

I did have a very frustrating experience late Sunday. I...

Wisconsin Gun Hunting Update - November 21, 2009

This was one of the strangest opening days of the Wisconsin gun deer season I've ever experienced. Temperatures were very warm, as it has been for the last three weeks. It was in the upper 30's this morning with very dense fog, clear skies and little to no wind.

I was in my ground blind by 6:00 AM. My blind is located on the on a big ridge that...

Getting Ready For The Wisconsin Gun Season

Posted by Chrud , 16 November 2009 · 484 views

My brother and I got a few different stand options ready for the upcoming Wisconsin Gun Deer Season that starts this Saturday. We put a pop-up ground blind where we will be building an enclosed tower blind for myself next year. It is on the on a big ridge that runs north/south. To the east is a winter wheat field, to the south is the "back woods",...

As I promised you guys earlier, here are some Cuddeback pictures of some bigger bucks my brother and I have from this year.

This is a buck we call the "Split G2 Buck" for obvious reasons. The picture was taken on my brother's food plot.

Wisconsin Bow Hunting Update - November 7, 2009

Posted by Chrud , 07 November 2009 · 293 views
Things finally came together this morning. The weather was going to take a major turn for the worse this weekend, at least it would be bad for bow hunting. Temperatures were in the upper 30's this morning with clear skies and a lot of fog. According to AccuWeather, the temperatures were supposed to rise quickly and be in the 50's by 7:00 AM. The...
