Wisconsin Bow Hunting Update - November 6, 2009

Posted by Chrud , 06 November 2009 · 149 views

Today was a pretty slow day with a very exciting ending.  Temperatures started in the 30's and rose quickly to about 50 with strong southeast winds.  The temperature was still 50 degrees at 5:30 PM and it is supposed to be near 60 on Saturday.

I didn't see anything from my stands today.  I started the morning in a new stand we set up a couple weeks...

This afternoon was a very exciting hunt.  I sat on my food plot again.  Temperatures were in the mid 40's, falling into the middle to lower 30's as the afternoon went on.  Winds were a little breezy from the west but the wind pretty much stopped with about an hour of light left.  Skies were crystal clear, it was a beautiful afternoon.

A little...

This morning was a pretty quick hunt.  It was a beautiful morning to be on stand.  Temperatures were in the high 20's with no wind and mostly clear skies.

I sat by my food plot again.  About 6:30 I heard some movement to my northwest and knew it was a deer.  Moments later a nice doe appeared moving towards the east.  She was eating a few fallen leaves...

It was a pretty windy afternoon. Temperatures were in the high 30's with a strong west wind about 15 MPH to 20 MPH. It was overcast with a couple brief snow pellet showers. Quite a change from the 60 degree temperatures on Friday.

I sat by my food plot. The number of pictures on my Cuddeback have dropped significantly the last couple weeks, so I've...

Wisconsin Bow Hunting Update - October 24, 2009

Temperatures were in the middle 40's with winds out of the west. I wanted to give my food plot some more time off before hunting it hard next weekend, so that narrowed my stand choices to either my waterhole stand or my blind between some clover and a winter wheat field. Because of all the rain this week, I figured the waterhole wouldn't be very...

Wisconsin Bow Hunting Update - October 17, 2009

It was a pretty slow evening.  Temperatures warmed up into the mid 40's and there was little to no wind.  Neither my brother or myself saw any deer. We did find a great spot this morning that had several rubs and scrapes. We will be putting a stand there tomorrow morning

Lots of great Cuddeback pictures again this week. I have a few of them posted in...

Wisconsin Bow Hunting Update - October 10, 2009

My hunt on October 10 was unique to say the least.  The weather was really good.  Temperatures were in the upper 20's and there was a chance of snow flurries.  However, the wind was supposed to be out of the west at about 15-20 MPH.

I decided to hunt my food plot.  I was about 1/3 of the way to my food plot when I heard a deer or two blowing.  Rather...

Wisconsin Bow Hunting Update - September 19, 2009

After checking my Cuddeback in the morning, I decided I would sit by my food plot again in the afternoon. There were several pictures of whitetail activity every evening between 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM. Friday night's pictures were about 8:30 PM, so I wasn't sure if anything would show up during legal shooting hours.

It was still pretty warm, with...

Wisconsin Bow Hunting Update - September 12, 2009

The 2009 archery season is finally here in Wisconsin. I typically don't hunt mornings or on Sunday until later in October, but I usually try to get out for the opening morning.

The morning was pretty foggy with no wind and temperatures were in the 50's. I decided to sit by my food plot, so I could switch out the card in my Cuddeback after the hunt....

Ready For Bow Season

This morning I was able to put the final touches on my treestands for bow season.  I have the pull-up ropes tied on, the EZ Hangers are in the trees and the seat cushions are on.  I'm ready to go!

Our food plots is looking amazing.  This is our third year planting food plots and they've never looked this good.  The neighbors are going to get...
