Food Plots And Cuddeback Pictures

Posted by Chrud , 05 August 2009 · 172 views

We finished putting planting our food plots this afternoon.  We are supposed to get some rain this weekend, so hopefully that will get the plots growing well.  Once again I'm going with Buck Forage Oats.  I've used this every year and have been very happy with the results.  I will try to post some pictures as the food plot progresses.

I thought I...

Getting Ready For The 2009 Season

Posted by Chrud , 20 July 2009 · 316 views

It has been way too long since my last blog entry.  Here is a little update on how things are coming along for the 2009 Wisconsin whitetail season.

For food plots, we are going with a pretty similar setup that we used in 2007 and 2008.  We already have my brother's peas planted and they look decent.  We also created a new clover/chicory plot this year...

Brother's 2009 Wisconsin Spring Turkey

Posted by Chrud , 22 April 2009 · 152 views

My brother Steve killed this nice gobbler this morning. He shot the bird in Langlade County, Wisconsin. We found where the birds were roosting on a back ridge last weekend and watched three gobblers strut in the woods for a few minutes. We discussed it and thought it would be best if he could sneek into the back woods along the south fence. He said he did...

2009 Wisconsin Deer Classic And Hunting Expo

Posted by Chrud , 02 March 2009 · 476 views

We made the trip to Green Bay, Wisconsin again for the 2009 Wisconsin Deer Classic and Hunting Expo.  There was a lot of cool stuff there to look at and some great seminars.

I was able to stop and chat with Greg Miller for a bit.  We had an interesting discussion about archery equipment and bow hunting Wisconsin whitetails.  I also purchased a camo...

Winter Scouting - December 13, 2008

Posted by Chrud , 13 December 2008 · 164 views

I was able to run out and grab my Cuddeback Capture camera from the woods during my lunch break on Thursday.  Because my food plot is covered with snow, and I really wanted to get some deer on camera, my brother and I put out some corn and a few apples on Sunday (December 7) morning.  We had a winter storm come through early in the week and I figured the...

2008 Wisconsin Whitetail Hunting Season Wrap-up

Posted by Chrud , 13 December 2008 · 150 views

I took a quick run out to my food plot during my lunch break on Thursday.  When I got there, I noticed a lot of great deer sign.  However, I also noticed the winter storm that came through the area earlier in the week had it's way with my pop-up blind.  There is still some time left for hunting, but the snow is accumulating very quickly.  I really want...

Wisconsin Muzzleloader Hunt Update - December 7, 2008

Posted by Chrud , 07 December 2008 · 157 views

I was finally able to take part in my first muzzleloader hunt this weekend.  I only hunted Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon, both times from my brother's enclosed, heated tower known as the "Buck Snort Resort".  Conditions were a little rough at times this weekend.  Cold and windy pretty much ever day, it was down to -12 degrees this...

2008 Wisconsin Gun Season Wrap-up

Posted by Chrud , 30 November 2008 · 167 views

The 2008 Wisconsin gun deer season came to a close today.  Once again, I did not fill any of my tags, but I'm fine with that.  I had my opportunities and couldn't close the deal.  Not much activity for me the last could days.  We made a couple drives on our land today and saw a big doe, but couldn't get any shots.

The rest of the guys had some...

Wisconsin Gun Hunting Update - November 23, 2008

Posted by Chrud , 23 November 2008 · 111 views

The opening weekend of the 2008 Wisconsin gun deer season was pretty eventful, and disappointing.

It was a cold start to Saturday.  The temperature when I left my truck was 1 degree.  Cold, little to no wind and clear skies.  The usual "gun shot symphony" began ringing very early.  I didn't see anything until about 8:45 AM when a single deer...

2008 Wisconsin Archery Whitetail - November 8, 2008

Posted by Chrud , 09 November 2008 · 180 views

It was a perfect morning for bowhunting. Temperatures were in the low 30's, there was no wind and there was a fresh blanket of snow on the ground. This is what deer hunting in Wisconsin is all about!

I headed to my stand by my food plot. When I arrived on the south end of my Buck Forage Oats food plot, I took a quick glance for deer and didn't...
