Wisconsin Muzzleloader Hunt Update - December 7, 2008

I was finally able to take part in my first muzzleloader hunt this weekend.  I only hunted Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon, both times from my brother's enclosed, heated tower known as the "Buck Snort Resort".  Conditions were a little rough at times this weekend.  Cold and windy pretty much ever day, it was down to -12 degrees this morning.  The only deer I saw from stand was a single doe on Friday afternoon, but she never presented a shot.  Three deer came running across the pasture this morning while I was waiting from my brother.

We took a little ride on the ATV's this morning.  I bought a Cuddeback Capture camera this week, so I put that out just to give it a try.  There are a lot of tracks around.  We actually found two really nice rubs.  I will get some pictures of them next weekend.

The 2008 Wisconsin whitetail season is quickly coming to a close for me.  There is a state-wide antlerless deer hunt from December 11 to December 14, I will be using my T/C Pro Hunter muzzleloader for that as well.  I'm not sure if I am going to be able to get any late season bowhunts in this year.  The snow is already beginning to pile up.  I want to do some scouting before the snow gets too deep.  I would only have a couple chances for late season bowhunts, so I might pass on them for some scouting.
