Wisconsin Gun Hunting Update - November 26, 2009

Happy Thanksgiving to all of the Hunting Resource members!

Temperatures cooled off a bit with highs in the 30's and it was pretty breezy with northwest winds about 15 MPH and gusting to near 30 MPH.  It was cloudy most of the day with a brief snow shower around 8:00 AM or so.

Deer activity was very slow again.  I didn't see anything, but I didn't spend much time in the woods with the Packers playing the Lions today.  My brother hasn't seen a deer all gun season.  If it wasn't for the three I saw while walking out on Saturday afternoon, neither of us would have seen anything yet.  I think the warm temperatures have had a lot to do with the lack of deer activity.  Temperatures were in the 50's just about every day since the first week of November.  And the DNR's estimate of our DMU being 20% to 40% below the goal population is finally starting to seem like a realistic estimate.

Temperatures aren't supposed to cool off much more until next weekend, during the muzzleloader/late archery season.  Looking back, I'm glad I took that spike buck with my bow a couple weeks ago.  Otherwise, I might have a pretty big tag sandwich this year.
