Summer Progress

We've been getting a lot accomplished the last few weeks.  We already have pretty much all the wood cut and hauled for the lady that lives on the land.  With a lot of snow into mid April, It's amazing that we've already got about 15 cord done.

We pretty much have all our stands set for the year.  Tomorrow we are finishing my brother's new box blind for gun hunting.  I only have two stands to hang and all our stands will be set.  We will have a total of 10 stands, I have 5 and my brother has 5.  A couple of mine are in new spots this year that look to be promising.  The fields will be no-till corn again, so there will be lots of food for the deer.

We've got a good start on food plots too.  We bought a disc for the ATV this winter and it works great.  Both plots are worked up and pretty much ready for planting.  We planted 1/2 my brother's plot with a soybean mix.  The other half and my plot will be planted in the middle of August with Buck Forage Oats.  It doesn't look like the rye seed on my plot has come back very well, so the "natural re-seeding" idea might be replaced with spraying the plot completely and working the rye seed up.  A little disappointing, but the Buck Oats worked great last year.

I probably won't be able to include many "progress pictures" of our plots, I'm trying to keep the visits to them to a minimum this year.  I will try to get some pictures of my stand locations later this summer when I make final adjustments.
