Teamed up with my brother in law this morning. We hunted a big piece of conservation land. For me this was a memory hunt. A bird would be a bonus. The woods were alive with barred owls this morning.

You have to play this one.........turn it up.

To appreciate this one.

We parked a vehicle on each end of the piece. We checked in about 0530 and neither of us heard any birds. On my way to meet up with him on the power-lines I walked out on a point and called. A jake gobbled back. I radioed BIL and asked him if he wanted to shoot a jake. His reply was "I ain't picky"

On the first set up the jake came in to our right not offering a shot. He walked away mystified. When his next gobble signaled he was over the hill we made a quick adjustment. The jake cut off my first series of yelps. Then I scratched the leaves. He came back on the run. I love hunting with family.
