Man I hate to name pets its tough to figure out the right name, my rule of thumb has always been to watch the dog, cat or what ever the pet is till they do something stupid or cute, and then brand with that name, Before we left colorado to move back to Az my wife brought home a little kitten some one had left at the store where she worked, after about a week went by I noticed that my wife had left the tub of butter out on the counter, well I went to put the lid on and noticed little kitty prints and toung marks in the butter, hence the name oleo, (another name for butter) My Black lab shooter got his name because I traind him for ducks You shoot ducks early in the morning, Hence the AKC name of Early-Morning-Shooter, we call him shooter for short, Good Luck with the name,

:D Hey, congrats on the new pup!! If you haven't chosen a name yet, I'd like to suggest Arrow, as she'll run staight and true when she retrieves for you!

Hope all is well with her and she's settling in.

When ever I named a dog I always wanted a name that was short.. especially a hunting dog, and the name must not be anything near a command word. Just because a dog is chocolate in color does not mean you have to base the name off that. I personally avoid common dog names you might run into.

My choice will be Beth. Short, simple, has nothing to do with the breed or color.

My black lab is named Seven but is called Sev... His full name is a real trip.. :D
