Well, I broke the ice last week. I took a nice fatty dry Doe with my new AR34. It was one of the quickest hunts I've ever had.

I was scheduled to ref a soccer game but when I got there it had been canceled so I headed off for a quick hunt. I got to my honey hole Buddy stand I put for my son and I to hunt a bit late (I was really only going up there to get the easy hanger I left there last season). I arrived climbed in and sat down, knocked an arrow, watched a tree rat for about 10 minutes and she came out of the woods right under my tree stand.

I had about 30 seconds to decide. I saw she was dry, fat and stopped broadside. I pulled the ol' AR34 off the easy hanger while she watched the same tree rat I had been watching and drew. I put the 20 pin on her shoulder and let'er fly. That arrow hit the sweet spot so fast it made me jump almost as high as she did when it hit home, WAP!!!!! She went 20 yards in plain view, did the dirt nap dance and flopped over on her side. That 100 grain 3 blade Muzzy had done it's job and back strap was ready for all. It happened so fast I almost forgot to shoot, lol.

Now, I've taken a few pieces of game with my bow. My old setup was nothing like this new fangled joby I now have. Man, I am impressed with the speed and lethality (shot the head off a grouse at 15 yards this season with my new stuff). If you're on the fence about archery equipment and think a new faster setup wouldn't make a difference, think again!!! I know I could have taken that Deer with a recurve, but why? This was the quickest archery deer harvest I have ever made. She knew nothing of what happened. Just jumped and kicked, walked about 20 yards and expired. Gotta love these new bows. I don't care what you shoot. The new stuff is awesome!!!

Congrats, I know what you mean about the new stuff. My old bow was about 10 years old ....what a difference 10 years can make. I still have a couple small issues to work out with my new Jennings but It sue is a nice bow.

Congrats Charles. Nothing like a clean kill. I remember my old browning. I always had to figure in for the deer jumping the string and how slow it was. Man now them arrows are there right now before they even now what hit em. Last I scoped mine it was around 300fps. That is fast for sure.

Thanks, Guys. It feels good to have one in the bag. Now I can relax a bit and hang back for a big dude.

Eric, you don't want to see photos of an ol' baldy. I'll wait till I get that Buck, thank you.

Congratulations Charles. I agree with you on the new stuff. Some of it is very much worth it.

Fiber Optic pins, rangefinders, carbon arrows, single cam bows, STS suppressors, no-peeps, G5 Montecs, Rocket expandables, spectra fiber bowstrings...
