I just tought I would tell a funny story from one of my hunts for wild boar in Texas. I went with an outfitter (who will remain nameless) who honestly is a good all around guy. He ran a good operation with plenty of hogs around. The first day I arrowed a nice boar...about 225 lbs. I hit him about 3'' too far back, so I waited a half hour and them went in with the guide/outfitter to find him. We found him laying there on his last leg. I decided to be as ethical aspossible and put another arrow in him from about 20 yards. When i did, he got up, spun around twice, and stared right at us. At this point the guide pointed out...."OH S***, HE'S COMIN'" and promtly turned and ran away. He charged, I dropped my bow and grabbed an arrow in a futile attemped to maybe stab him to death...? The boar collapsed at my feet and died, and the guide proceeded to try and restore his dignity. I guess you can't always expect a guide to hang in there when the stuff hits the fan. I would still reccomend his operation to anyone, but if you get charged, don't expect backup except for words of encouragement from the nearest tree. :)

Glad it worked out in the end. It easily could have had a much sadder ending. Bet that boar tasted extra good.

Hunting is all about the over all experince and it sounds as though you may have gotten your money's worth on it.

Did you leave him a pair of running shoes as a tip?

I definitely got my money's worth. It was a great experience. It was the best pork I have ever eaten! I did leave him a decent tip, but it wasn't for bravery. :)
