Took my fly rod to the river for the first time today. Man it was a blast. I've been practicing casting in the back yard and finally made it to the river today. Season opened Sat. and I fished the catch and release section. Must have caught 20. Most fun I have had fishing in a LONG time! I think I may like this fly fishing after all :D :D :D

Hey tdl. Set a styrofoam cup up in the back yard and use it as a target for your flies.Great practice. How big are the trout that you are getting?

Red- They were small but still fun on a light action fly rod with #4 line. Biggest was a brown around 14 inches. Went back today to the same place, had a lot of strikes, hooked up with a dozen. I took this Monday off from work to go turkey hunting, but now I'm considering another fly fishing trip instead. Boy, life is full of tough decisions :D
