3500 acres of Piney Woods with small food plots. We were unable to locate any turkeys, but did locate a flock of about 15 birds on another place. We got permission to hunt them, but just didn't have any luck. We found the turkeys on our next to last afternoon of hunting, so we only had a day to figure them out.

Wayne,

Looks like that place needs a control burn in a bad way. Have they ever done one there? Too late to do it this year but next Jan/Feb I'd recommend it. That's helps turkey habitat in a big way.

Join up with the NWTF Woodland program and get certified. It makes a MAJOR difference in the bird population. The place I hunt has been in it for over six years.

Added benefit it really helps the deer too.

I'm not sure Leo. I do know that it won't be ready for a thinning cut for another 8 to 10 years. They do have one area of about 70 acres that is a new cut-over. This year will be my first year in the hunting club that hunts the lease. I will bring up your suggestion at the first meeting I attend. They don't have any members that do any turkey hunting as of now. I'm trying to change that though.
