This morning I was walking out to the ever smaller woodpile to finish that job. I was nearly there when I stopped short. Did I hear what I just thought I heard. Yes there it was again a gobbler out back sounding off. It got me so excited I almost grabbed my chainsaw to head out and cut him down out of that tree and give him a real whooping for not doing that all season in response to my calls.

Yes I did calm down before accomplishing such a hideous act but I did have to restrain myself more than usual.

I think you should change the title of this topic from "They Are Still At It", to "They Are Finally Getting Into It" as that is more gobbling than I heard the entire season!

A guy a work has had a longbeard goobling & strutting in the field next to his house the past 3 days ???? It musta been a select pocket of birds up here as I had more gobbling birds than ever before during this Spring's season.

Aw Jere don't be too hard on Phil besides those birds were goobling, not gobbling. Lol Eric and I went down and hunted with Phil at that spot and he is right there were turkeys sounding off goobling and gobbling all over. That is where Eric and I finally got to call in a bird but it hung up about 40 yds from me in heavy brush and absolutely refused to cross a meer trickle of a stream. Heck it wasn't even big enough to be a crick. We both stepped over it without breaking stride. Besides that darned turkey wasn't supposed to come in from that direction.

Goobling ice cream while talking turkey does have it's drawbacks....except ya don't have to share!
What was different this year...no yotes showed up at either spot we hunted ! :fudd:

Sure did Will,
Trying a shot Lefthanded....Did get his little brother 2 hrs later ! :D
You remember the day we helped the older hunter who slashed his hand open field dressing the doe on top of the mountian? The DCNR closes the access road after deer season so you have to hike in from the bottom. That's where we got into em because no one else will hike in that far. Dang long way way to carry a critter without tenderloins back to the truck. :hunter:

Well I can now truthfully say "They are still at it" I heard a gobble at dawn again this morning and it is the 11th of June. I always thought that PA's spring gobbler season was too late now I wonder.
