So last week we took a week's vacation at the conclusion of our summer camp season and spent the week up at Flaming Gorge in Utah. We camped at the Lucerne Valley campground & marina just outside Manila, UT. It's kind of the wrong time of year for chasing big fish as they are all deeeeeeeeep in the cold water. But we did pretty good none-the-less and had a great time. Most of our fishing was with bobbers off the shore or surface trolling out of a rented 14' John boat. However, one day, Melody, myself, my twin brother and one of our staff kids who came along did a half day charter and went deep after some Kokanee salmon. We limited out in just over 2 hours and I gotta tell ya, those fillets are some of the best eating we've had in awhile. Our captain knew right where to go, what to use and how to get them to bite. It was worth every penny!

Here's some pictures:

Kokanee Salmon are also called Sockeye or Red salmon. They are darn good eating.

This guy seemed to really like them too.

I hope Mel had as much fun cooking them as catching them. Did you do the cleaning Larry?

 @ Leo! I believe that guy in your picture would be allowed to keep all the fish he catches.

Yup, Charles, that's the deal: I clean and she cooks. Not a bad deal at all!
