Here's the first pics of Jason's deer. He was almost ready to climb down out of his stand tonight when he heard a squirrel start barking. He looked that way and spotted this bruiser headed to the Deer Cane I put out. He said he almost fell out of the stand. It was all he could do to take his eyes off the rack long enough to shoot. He made a perfect shot and he only ran about 50 yards and dropped. We just got home and have to get him skinned and in the freezer before Jason has to head to work. I've got to meet my brothers and sisters tomorrow to discus my mom's condition. She's still in ICU and has us pretty worried. Sooo, we have have to get busy. With him still in velvet we'll have to wait a few days to clean it off the antlers so we can score him. B & C says you have to. I'll post more pics and the measurements then. This is Jason's biggest deer and bigger than anything I ever shot. He has 15 scorable points. He sure did me proud. :D

Ok, we got that done. Jason's taking a shower then has to head to work. I feel sorry for him, he has to work midnight till 8am and I know he's tired. I really think the buck will score better than 140. I'm not much on guessing but I'll tell you why. The pics don't even begin to do it justice. I took just a couple quick measurements as it is and it's a full 8 inches around the bases just above the nubs. It's 7 1/2 inches around just below the first points which are double eyegaurds. Now I don't know about where you all are at but that's some serious mass around these parts. If you look at the pics you'll see it carries the mass well up into the antlers too. Look where Jason's hands are and he can't close them around where he's holding. The g 2's are over 9" and one main beam measures 24 1/2". I really don't think it will lose a whole lot without the velvet but we'll see. When I can post the measurements I'll post each one and the total. I'm really curious to see. For now I'm going to do a European mount for him and we'll have a full mount done down the line when we have the money. I'm more happy that he got it than if I had. He worked very hard to do so and I couldn't be more proud. :D

Congratulations to Jason. Man that sets the pace for the deer contest now doesn't it. Man I only ever saw a few deer in the woods that are in that category. Way to go.

Here's some side views and a top view of the rack. I told Jason that what I think is so cool is this deer has everything you could ask for. It has a small drop tine, a great kicker point of the g-2, great spread and hight, double brow tines, and crazy mass.

No, you misunderstood. He's definitely mountable. His rack is just plain impresive and has great charector. We just don't have the funds right now so I'm doing a European mount. ( I've got it down to a science  ) Then, when we do have the cash, we can still have a full mount done by just supplying another cape. I recently read an article of a fellow who after 50 years did just that. We don't intend to wait that long though.

Man, what a buck! Congrats to Jason!

Not sure, but I would say it's pushing 150's or better.
