I hunted this deer!!! Thought he was a 10 point. Good thing I didn't get a close up look at him. Saturday morning - dropped a bullet on the way to my stand. Fell in a hole. My climber was full of water - now I am wet and it is 28 degrees! Climbed up the tree (had moved closer to "his" area. At daylight had a flock of turkeys land just below me & begin to feed. I heard something & looked to my left & there he was. He saw the turkeys & was watching them. I wasn't sure if it was "him" but I could see he had at least 4 points on one side & I had decided to take him. I could't see the other side but I had made up my mind. When I pulled the trigger - nothing - nothing - nothing. (While climbing my bolt had come open but I didn't figure that out until later). I eased that bullet out & another one in - it clanged on the stand & he looked at me. I thougt I sure hope he is still there - I looked through the scope & found him & pulled the trigger. He hunched up & ran out of sight. I called my husband & we decided to wait on hour before going to look. AT 9:45 he came to help - I told him where the deer was standing when I shot & where he went. We are shooting ballistic tips which usually leave your deer within 50 yards but no blood trail. He shouted to me that he didn't see any blook - my heart sank. I told him to "just look toward the firebreak - I am climbing down - I can't tell you any more!" Seconds later I heard him whistle that he found him. He hollered "He's a good deer!" I thought - he NEVER says that - I told him not to say anything else or I would fall trying to get out of the tree. When I got down he met me and said "I'll buy you anything you want - go look!" I was stunned - we just kept counting points He is a main frame 12 but with all the stickers that are at least 1 inch he has 18 points!!!!!!!!! I still can't belive it but here are the pictures! :D :D :D :D

Wow! Nice shooting especially after all the trials and tribulations you went through just to be able to hunt let alone shoot the deer. Congratulations Mrs. Vcross.

Okay what kind of a mount are you going to do with him?

Wow Vickie that is a whopper buck. Congratulations. After all the problems you had that morning you deserved something good but got something great. In one word Thatisagreatbuck.

I never smile in pics - I think I was telling my husband to hurry up & take the picture!!!
