This issue is not new.
However, the recall was originally voluntary, but is now mandatory
as of 02/18/09 according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Bottom Line: If you have one of these bows, follow the link above.
If your particular bow falls under the category of the recall by the
detail near the bottom of the page, DISCONTINUE USE IMMEDIATELY
and head to your local Authorized BowTech Retailer of choice!

Like you said. This isn't a new issue except for the recall being no longer mandatory.

Bows affected were sold between September 2007 through July 2008.
