Got back safely from Louisiana. The Tournament was held at a new gun range near Shreveport, However, the tournament director{who also sits on the N.R.A. board of Directors} decided to not "sanction" the shoot due to some safety concerns with the target pits. Long story short, we still had a shoot, kept score, handed out plaques, but the results were "un-official". Normally, 30 shots total would be fired, 15 on Saturday and 15 on sunday {in 5 shot groups} but it was decided to get it all done on Saturday. 10 shot groups in 10 minutes done 3 times by the shooters. Friday was to have been a sight in day on the 1000yd range, but torrential rain made it impossible. Dan and I headed over to the 200yd range because the shootin benches were covered and it allowed us to zero the gun to 200yds at least { it also would be the farthest he had shot the gun up to that point} 5 shots later we were dialed in.At the hotel that night, not being comfortable with where we were at with the gun, we went online to a hornady ballistic calculator, figured we needed to come up about 200 inches {20 MOA} so we adjusted in the motel room and hoped for the best. Dans group was the last to shoot. Dans first shot ever at 1000yds was at the 3 oclock position in the 7 ring , shot 3 more times during the warm up period, all on target but right of center. He shot his First group of ten, In a vertical line but again right of center. Made a scope adjustment for his second group. His first 5 shots of the 10 would have earned him a "screamer" patch if the tournament had been official, A MOA of .6, ended up with 7 of 10 in the black. Last set of 10, again 7 of 10 in the black ,2 X ring hits but a larger group. We learned an awful lot, those big guns shoot better cold than heated up, wind was not a factor there, calm conditions. 3 guys entered in the tournament where chasing the world record for .50s, currently .26 MOA or about 2 9/16 inches. All 3 have 3inch groups to their credit. Definately a lot of money could be spent on this sport, several of the guns were in the 15 grand range. I worked in the target pits, having the experiance of hearing those rounds snap overhead was awesomePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Wow - never done that before. I bet it was something to be in the pit. Jeff please tell Dan (t-wrecks) nice shootin partner!!! :clap: :clap: :bigthumb: Those rifles look like cannons to me. Had to be an awesome deal to be dialed in at 1000 yards. :cool: So did you pay for the trip in the casino??

First video, taken with a cell phone, is of the current world record holder in Unlimited Catagory. http://smg.photobuck...=0314091315.flv He owns the blue and white gun in the pictures. And Mark, we did make it to Binions River Boat Casino in Shreveport. The video is of a 2 cent slot machine I was playing. http://smg.photobuck...=0315092018.flv. I cashed out right after and headed to the Buffet and filled up on Catfish and Mud Bugs {crawdads,lol}

Craw fish gumbo is oh so good - Ah-eee Cajun style. Mud bugs make for some great smallie bait up north, soft shell mud bugs that is.

Son -serious fun you two had down south with blasting off those cannons, making the one arm bandits sing, and all you can eat buffets, ooh-weeee sounds like a fun time on the bayou.
