While I know I have lots of work to do around here, they said it might rain. And who wants to work in the rain. So I decided to shoot that new Renegade.

I had it nice and clean, and ran an alcohol patch down it to remove the oil I put in it last night. Dry patched it a little, and then popped a cap or two. I had to decide what powder to start with. I checked my Triple Seven and was almost out of that. So I decided to use the Graf's and Sons 3f powder, pillow tick patch, and moosemilk. Also the .490 cast ball I purchased from Gander Mountain.

I set a target out at 25 yards to start. I fired the first shot on the clean bore and then three more to check the sights.

That load looked pretty good. And the three shot group (although I might have shot four I was not paying attention) showed me I had a good load in the rifle. So I moved the target back to what I thought was 50 yards but it turned out to be 47 yards.

The first shot as I suspected was too far to the right. So I made an adjustment. This time I went too far to the left. So one more adjustment where I split the difference and took it down one click and shot two more. That looked pretty good to me.

I then decided to try some free style shooting at 50 yards. I shot the first one and thought I shot too low. So I aimed higher and did hit higher. I have a lot of work to do on this free style shooting. Being a bench shooter is totally different then free style shooting.

The rifle shows a lot of promise. I then put some 2-1/2 X 2-1/2 wood blocks out at 75 yards and off the bench was able to hit them with a full sight picture. And as I was out there having fun for the couple of hours, I was right.. it started to sprinkle. Good thing I did not go out in the woods and work.. Posted Image
