We've been telling ya from time to time that Northcentral PA has huge black bears. The last Saturday of Spring Gobbler I was sitting in my new blind alongside a logging road at camp and this guy showed up. He's (yes, He) the biggest black bear I've ever seen in the woods. I've stopped by the weigh in station a couple times over the years and saw a 490lb & a couple 400lb. bruins but quite honestly this toad is much bigger than . Sorry the pic is a little blurry but all I had was my cellphone. Look at the Block shaped head, tiny ears, massive hindquarters. I got a true appreciation of his size when he stood on his back legs to rub against a tree 25 yards away. I was able to measure where his head reached as there was a baseball sized scar on the trunk from missing bark. His height was approx. 78-80". I believe this is the big bear that camp members have spotted occassionaly over the past 4 or 5 years. Hope we see him this fall during our three day bear season.
