We're trying to figger place to maybe finally score an elk. 7 yr dry spell too long. Since we drew primo mulie buck tags for Oct, we feel our luck may hold for an elk between the two of us. We been hashing and re-hashing places we have been and either seen elk or not seen elk. My ol COlorado topo map book is all wore out from all the places we have been in 7 yrs and not scored for various reasons. 25, 28,37,86,55,71 or some place new? Been ruminatin on it so much i FEEL like an elk. Dawn keeps sayin this is our yr. So with the OTC bull tags we'll get probably for third or fourth rifle I just dont know...

Bennezette PA if ya can get drawn Charlie!!!!Posted Image

I believe that elk hunting anywhere in CO is worthy of pursuit the way those buggers range around. Bruce's backyard might be a place to try if he'll help ya pack em out.

I miss Benezette and PA in general. We've discussed coming back but wife is up for a job on Durango and we sure dont wanna miss that opp. I seen and fotograffed my very first elk in 1976 near Benezette in August that yr. He was a stunning 5x5. I still have the Polaroids of him.

We'll probalby just get third rifle here in 54 if I do the leftover draw( found out I dont burn points on leftovber draw and theres 209 EE tags left for 54.). Failing all else we'll go for the OTC bull tags and hunt all over COlo.

now phil, had you shot your elk one day sooner, you know I would have helped pack it out :)
