Took the buck on the first morning, but put nearly 30 hours in the blinds before taking the doe on the last day there. The Shirley Basin is awesome - absolutely gorgeous.

Thanks guys. Thrill of a life time for me - cross one off the bucket list. I'll definitely be back if drawn.

Hey Marty, saw a huge muley standing in that creek just outside Medicine Bow. That was the only Muley I saw on the trip; didn't see or hear any elk - guess the basin isn't for them. Joel hunts Laramie Peak...in fact he's there right now.

Laramie Peak, area 7, is really one of the best bull areas in the state 400 inches will come out of there in September during archery season. almost all private.

next time you may need a muley tag in that pocket of yours and again I apologize your my being tied up.

Come back and we'll chase some animals

That muley looked weird he was so dark. Joel said he thought it was a statue because the color was too dark. But, after we gassed up and got our supplies in Medicine Bow, we slowed and looked on the way back - no mulie. I think they really like it there because of all the water. Shirley Basin doesn't have much water unless you go to the reservoir on the north-west side.

We found lots of cattle watering holes - that's the hot ticket when rut's still a ways off.

Last night there it rained like a son-of-a-gun. I was alone and loving it. Unfortunately when water holes are all you have for a tactic rain kind of ruines it. Imagine my surprise when I awoke the next morning and the ground was BONE dry. Wow. That place is dry. Anyway, I needed to break camp and head east, so I left with my last doe tag in my pocket. I've been talking to Marilyn about flying out in rifle season and bringing her with me. She's thinking about it.

Had pronghorn steaks the other evening and every kid in the neighborhood showed up - they loved it.

Just finished another pronghorn steak dinner with the family - man do I love pronghorn steaks! Very tender and tasty.

Next week we'll give the pronghorn roast a try. Tomorrow night we're having two families over for pronghorn burger and steaks on the barbie. Word's getting around.
