I finally got a few minutes and some good weather here and decided it was time to see what the Knight Bighorn would do with 300 Grain Hornady XTPs in a Harvester crush rib sabot with 80 Gr of FFg Gooex. I did discover I have a bit of parralax at 100 yds in the scope. I swabbed with alcohol and 2 dry patches between each shot.

I felt that this was pretty good from the bench with the target waaaayyy out there. This was a measured 100 yds and no fudging on anything. Man I like that smoke pole. I am still going do a little more testing with a bit more powder like maybe 90 gr. Inquisitive minds just want to know.

That is some good shooting. I have pushed my Wolverine up to 100 grains of Triple Se7en which in my book is all the horse power you need. It would not hurt to try some different powder charges. After all if gives you a reason to shoot more... :D

Thanks. Of course now that I have published this target I guess I have no excuse for missing an elk with that combo.

Remember punching paper is alot diffrent then putting one where it counts on an elk.

Elevated heart rate, anxiety, being exhausted, a poor shooting rest, excitement and extreme shot angles all play into the formula.

You must become one w/ all these factors grasshopper. Then you will be cooking some A+ backstraps back at camp.. LOL

BC you are right that elk may be the first elk I plan to draw down on but certainly not the first animal I have done in. Shucks those elk are so big I can't miss. (Famous lost words).  :o

That would be cool now if we have a bed big enough.
