I went online and bought our elk tags for the fall. Stickthrower cow tag for Elkatraz during 8-26 thru 9-24, also 2nd rifle bull for Taylor Park 10-21 thru 10-29.

:D :D :D

as McBruce says 'is it Sept yet?'

Here in Colorado you can normally take one elk of either sex and a second bull only on 2 different licenses in two different seasons or methods of take.

thats right larry, i forgot that every tag comes with an 'if-and-maybe or but' clause. one year i could have killed 3 elk, i dont recall the exact tag circumstances. but i had tag soup anyway later. this yr hunters can take 4 elk if the do one in san luis valley. then theres the '300 mile rule' for draws i.e. you will only draw the tag furthest from your home. thank the lord for unlimited bull tags. gotta LOVE them.

i love the place anyway. just wanna kill something even if i have to throw sticks at it.

Yeah I got the fever bad. Just checking tags and air ticket prices so my oldest dau can come hunt rifle elk with wife and I.

Sadly though I havent had my bow out of the case since my failed attempt at making last yrs Elkatraz.

I really need to get it out and shoot it A LOT

and soon.

Hey Silver I have a suggestion. Strip the feathers off one of those arrows and you can borrow my muzzleloader and can shoot the arrow out of it. Lol Just kidding, I think. If I get one early I'll chase one past you.

Paul, that was kinda the idea i had, if i could get out there, and bag one early, spend the rest of my time up there helping the people that get one, bring them in.

this seems like something I heard from or about RL doing...
I hear it's quite effective.

Next year theres an early elk season in unit 45 where muzzlarrows are legal.

In Sept 2007 is javelin season.

2008 all ya need is a rock for early season 'back to nature equipment type' hunting. I'm sure PA will adopt the rock first as they did that stick with the confusing name.

best of luck to all hunters
