I received my new call in the mail today. The fellow that made it woodburned a turkey head inside a keystone on the top, Casters and a turkey foot on one side, a turkey foot and Job 12: 7--10 on the other side and on the bottom my name with PA RIDGE RUNNER beneath it and our sort of new signature of a rising sun. Now to describe what it looks like. It is made of 1/4 inch thick wood all around. and looks much like a paddle box call except the top is a solid piece of wood with a slot cut in both long sides and across one end. It looks a little like a tongue running nearly the length of the box. To operate it the loose end of the tongue is chalked and you use it just like a pot call with a striker. If I have some time I will take a couple of photos. With my walnut striker it sounds pretty good. I may make a couple myself with some different woods and possibly a thinner top just to see what it would sound like. I believe mine is made of poplar wood.
