I have yet to hear a gobble around here at home. I even went to a favorite honey hole this morning but things were very quiet. I did see a hen, a fox squirrel, 3 deer and 2 other hunters but no gobbles.

If the sign is there that they've been there sit down and call anyway. I've killed quite a few on those "silent" days that never cracked their beaks once. Believe in your woodsmanship skill and tough it out.

Shut mouth days aren't impossible but they can be tedious and boring.

Honestly, I find generally that the days the birds aren't vocally responsive they are often more likely to sneak in to a caller. On days they really roar their heads off you often can't get them to move.

Oh there is plenty of sign at all the places I have been to. I am just surprised that there are no gobbles on the roost. A couple of years ago it was the same thing but the gobbling picked up later in the season and I sure hope that will happen again.
