I tried it once several years ago and could barely see it at 40 yards though.

I have used that target also. I prefer the one I can download from the NAHC site. Something I do to get a better sight picture is I place a stick on orange bullseye where I want to aim and it is much better when patterning even at 50 yds. I do this no matter what target I am using.
If God had a refrigerator would your picture be on it.
Remember the Ark was built by amateurs, the titanic by professionals.
