I have witnessed many animals in my backyard but tonight was a first. My neighbor and I just before dark chased a black bear at about 150 lbs away from our compost pile. My daughter-in-law had to defrost her freezer over the weekend and put a bunch of stuff in the compost and apparently it smelled good to a bear. We did chase it into the cornfield behind my house but it went rather reluctantly. I just got back from bear patrol but saw nothing.

Wow Paul you better be careful, Yogi might come back for the food and be less reluctant to leave next time.

Gotcha Terry that is why my little snub nose revolver is on my belt as I type. Time for another bear patrol.

Hey Diganali you'd best be careful. You'll end up in Yogi's picnic basket!

A bear would not chew on me I am too old and tough. I did become a bit bolder with my revolver on my hip. I have had many encounters with black bears over the years several up close and personal and although I am not afraid of them I do respect them and give them a way out and try not to be in that spot.

Good for you Paul. Just keep in mind, that while old and tough, a bear might concider you fresh jerkey. ;) You go and get yourself ate by a bear and I'm not calling you any more. ;) lol
