So duck opener was yesterday.  My friend and I went out to a public spot I had scouted a couple times which looked pretty good.  We saw probably 40 birds total, mostly wood ducks and a few teal, and managed to get a couple nice drake woodies.  We could have easily limited out, but the birds for the most part skirted just outside the decoys and landed in the corner of the pond that we weren't in. We chalked it up as a learning experience...we know where to set up next time! Beautiful 60 degree weather and a slight 10 MPH breeze made for a beautiful duck opener!

Congrats, Eric. Good luck on the next outing.

With my luck, I'd set up next time where they all landed this time and they would all land where I was last time. :doh2:

Nice!

Ya smoking them or frying?

I normally marinate them for a day or two, and then grill them on my George Foreman until they're about medium/medium rare.  Quick and easy, and they taste great. This fall I might try some other cooking methods if I find the time.

I didn't have class until noon today, so I made the best of my morning.  Another beautiful morning and great hunt in northern Minnesota!

Living where I do in central PA I never had much opportunity to duck or goose hunt.  Sounds like you still know how to have fun whether on a deer stand or duck blind.  Thanks for the update.
