I have been trying to get a really nice buck for many years now.  I have seen several but for one reason or another the big ones always eluded me.  For about 4 years now my son-in-law Kenny and I have been hunting in extreme NW Kansas and have seen some awesome bucks 2 of which I just plain missed.  This year we hooked up with a family that Kenny has known for a bunch of years.  Their two sons were our unofficial guides and got us on some great property.  The youngest son Carter and I went to a favorite place of theirs and after crawled through a fence surrounding an alfalfa field and climbed to a rock ledge and while still full daylight a 4 point whitetail walked into the field.  He looked back a few times to where he entered the field.  Soon a deer came into the field and when I got a look it was Mr Big.  I also knew that he was at my longest distance I wanted to shoot.  I could hardly contain myself to wait for him to come closer.  After several very long minutes the deer did not appear to be coming closer.  I decided to try for him and was successful.  When Carter and I approached him I exclaimed that there was definitely no ground shrinkage to the rack.  It had 11 scoreable points, had over a 19 inch inside spread and a 21 inch outside spread.  Its brow tines are like knife blades.  It green scored 157 points.  It also has big heavy beams.  I just thank the good Lord for such a great buck.  This may well be my buck of a lifetime.  Will post a pic or two when I can.  Oh and after I shot my buck and still sitting from where I shot another great buck walked along the fence only about 10 feet below us.  He could very well have been wider than my buck but not as heavy.
